Come to Madrid with Jools

Jools had a whirlwind trip to Madrid to visit the wonderful Greco showroom - the home of Pukka Print in Madrid. Founded by Michael S Smith, this destination showroom combines a reverence for the past with a modern eye, and showcases exceptional craftsmanship from the world’s finest artisans… the perfect place for Pukka Print’s hand block printed linens and hand woven weaves to be showcased.

Whilst in Madrid, Jools had the chance to soak up some Spanish culture, visiting the Museo Nacional de Arts Decorativas, where highlights were the amazing neon entrance installation “Let’s Play’ by Marta Minujin, a beautiful example of William Morris’s work and an exquisitely made mid-19th century dolls house which captured the interiors and life of the time. The calm boating lake, pretty water features and glorious greenery in the Parc du Madrid made for a lovely walk, and the Museo del Prado was filled with treasures - including an intricate gold Mughal cup with turquoise and rubies - and the mesmerising painting ‘An Allegory of the Four Elements’ by Jan Brueghel the Elder.

Jools says… “I loved Madrid because it is steeped in history, southern and hot! The Prado is reassuringly overwhelming… I love it when there is SO much and you’re stated when you’ve only just seen a few Brueghals. It feels like a city with open arms and I can’t wait to return very soon for a Greco Autumnal reunion.”
