The Pukka Print Story
A lifelong love affair with interiors, textiles & prints
Pukka Print was founded in 2011 by Juliet (Jools) Cornell. A lifelong love affair with interiors, textiles and prints was reignited when Jools lived in India with her young family and became passionate about Indian textiles and the ancient art of hand block printing.
Immersed in Indian culture, Jools was drawn to the beautiful Chintz fabrics that were produced in India over 300 years ago and the Mughal motifs that surrounded her in her daily life. Bringing these together, Jools was inspired to work with a talented team of block carvers and hand block printers in Jaipur to create the first Pukka Print collection.
This established Pukka Print’s signature style; intricately patterned designs with layers of colour, hand block printed onto the most exquisite linen with an elegant drape.
The collection was debuted at the renowned Tissus d’Hélène showroom in Chelsea Harbour Design Centre, which continues to represent Pukka Print in London today.
A growing collection of block prints, screen prints & weaves
Still printed by hand in Jaipur, Pukka Print’s collections of intricate hand-block prints reference Indian botanicals, flowers and foliage found within 16th and 17th century prints originating from India. The English colour palette sits wonderfully within contemporary interiors and demonstrates Jools’ innate understanding of English decoration and style.
Pukka Print has also launched a collection of hand screen printed linens, inspired by the wonderful history of suzanis in Uzbekistan, featuring bolder colours and larger scale designs.
The prints are perfectly complemented by Pukka Print weaves, which are hand woven in Kerala.
Pukka Print’s collection now includes over 100 variations, and is represented across the world, with the fabrics on display in leading interior showrooms in London, America, Australia, France and Spain.
